Oh how I love to receive🙂 well gifts that is! I don’t think I ever really enjoyed receiving gifts until now. Maybe because since I’ve put in more thought into the gifts I give, I began noticing the thoughtfulness behind the gifts I receive.
Whether it is giving up of your time or convenience, all giving has a price to pay. The efforts the person has to go through to find the gift, added to the giving. A friend recently asked me, if he had a million rand, “what would I want as a gift?” My response was “an experience”. I never thought of that question until then and in a way I got to know myself a bit better than I did before. I’ve made it a rule to open my gift as soon as possible, not waiting on a special day, because that special day might never come. I’ve learned this lesson when I received a gift voucher and kept it in my wallet for months, only to be pickpocketed, never to been used, because I was ‘waiting for that special moment’. I’ve also made it a point to try to wear or use my gift when the person is around to see it, cause it sure makes me feel good when I see someone using a gift I gave them.
Christmas is not only a time for opening presents, but a time for opening your heart ❤️
