Now you probably thinking that to chase and pursue is the same thing. I beg to differ. When I think of chasing, something or someone is running away. You cant chase something that wants to be caught. It’s like a dog chasing after a moving car, the chase is over when in most cases when the dog can no longer can keep up. And even if the car does stop, what is the dog to do? go back where he came from, cause the thrill is over. To pursue takes some method of planning. Similar to a lion pursuing a gazelle, when it is more tactful in it’s attack.
When it comes to dating, for e.g. I prefer the conceptĀ to pursue, as appose to being chased. A guy told me once, that he does not just go up to a woman without some sort of a plan of approach. By pursuing he will need to ask questions and get to know you. To pursue is more of a natural flow, than going against the wind and pushing through. “A man who chase sees your worth, a man who pursues sees your worth and also knows his own”. Knowing this, I don’t want to chase, nor be chased by anyone.Ā The act of pursue, is a give and take. To chase comes from a place of scarcity, a lack of, you often don’t know when to stop and move on.
I choose toĀ PURSUE my goals and passions, but when it’s a constant struggle or pain, that’s when I fear I might be chasing that’s not meant to be. LookingĀ back at all theĀ times IĀ appliedĀ for a specific job; a purchase or a person I wanted in my life and did not received it, always in hindsight I realise why God did not allow it to happen. This builds my faith, knowing that everything happens for a reason, even though I might not be able to know what that reason may be. Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”.
