You should care what people think of you

Everyone always tend to defend themselves by saying that they don’t care what people think of them. To a certain degree, yes you cannot worry yourself over other’s opinion of you, but there comes a point when it should matter. What people think of you, they will naturally talk to other people about you. Everyone’s perception of you will be different, because of their feelings they have towards you. How is it fair that someone that might not have met you yet or had not enough time to get to know you, has the first impression from someone that doesn’t like you because of their own insecurities.

I like to consider myself as my own best friend. If someone is talking anything negative about my friend, I will stand up and defend for them. I’ve purposefully gotten into the habit of trying to see the good in people, even if I don’t know them. People may think that I’m naïve and I trust too easily, and often they do tell me this. I do this, so that I can get to experience more good in people. So wouldn’t the same concept applies, if I treat myself this way?

I will be honest, other people’s opinions of me does matter. Whether it is the way I dress. Just maybe I don’t know any better. I would rather let someone tell me, with love, that they think that the clothes I wear is not appropriate, than gossiping to everyone else about it. By the way, this has been told to me before, and I am grateful for it. I’m also lucky enough to have a gay bestie that is not shy at all to point this out to me lol I value the opinions of the closest people in my life, because I like to believe they do care of my well being.
